My Land

I just returned from a road trip to Colorado with my business partner, Kate. We were there for our annual regional music therapy conference where we decided upon our next round of brilliant music therapy interns, I presented on reimbursement and was the humble recipient of an awesome award from the Western Region of the American Music Therapy Association. We traveled through many, many beautiful states, but were elated to return to the beautiful state of Oregon.

In the same way in which we are pioneers of music therapy, my partner, Jeff, is a pioneer in this newfangled legalized marijuana industry. Today we present an appeal to Clackamas County regarding the use of our land for cannabis cultivation. As someone who has heard many families express the incredibly positive impact of CBD upon their lives, I'm disheartened by the inability of many community members to overcome the deeply entrenched biases that echo the fictionalized and highly exaggerated rhetoric of Reefer Madness. It's exciting to watch history unveil itself before us and I'm confident that the continuous advocacy and education by Jeff and his legal team will help Clackamas County overcome their biases.

And yes, there is a novel, The Green Grasses of Heaven, in the works featuring the battle against Raquel, a misguided horse lover who spearheads a hate campaign against her cannabis growing neighbors, the tragic disappearance of a sweet puppy named Sophie, and the incredible transformation and enlightenment of a misinformed community that ultimately reaps the benefits of surplus marijuana tax revenues thanks to the farm's annual retreats with Pema Chödrön, Thích Nhất Hạnh and Don Miguel Ruiz. Meanwhile, here's a sneak peek of the first run through one of Stoneface Honey's new songs, My Land.
